Beatrix Potter’s Tailor of Gloucestershire

Last week we had a fun “district preparation-day” at the Gloucester Cathedral, but before we met the other missionaries, we went to the Beatrix Potter shop right next to the Cathedral, at the Tailor of Gloucestershire shop, named after the book written so long ago. Our daughter Joanna gave us the book for Christmas, so we were excited to see the place. (You probably know her from her Peter Rabbit books!) (Beatrix, not Joanna!) 🙂 It’s a quaint shop, as you can see from the photos! This is a special year for Beatrix Potter fans, because it is the 150th anniversary of her birth in 1866.DSCF0002.JPGDSCF0001.JPGDSCF0012.JPGDSCF0004.JPG

We were interested in what Beatrix Potter said about Stroud, where we serve! 🙂

Upstairs there is lots of memorabilia about the book, including a vest made to look like the mayor’s vest the Tailor needed help from the little mice to finish in time for the big event!
