A few weeks ago we visited the Painswick Beacon on a free p-day. We’ve seen the sign to it from the road between our town of Stroud and our stake center in Cheltenham. So a Beacon is a hilltop where you can see beautiful views. This one was an Iron-age fort at one time, with areas carved out for bulwarks and spots to defend. (My military terms are lacking here!) For us it was a beautiful day to hike up and have a picnic.
Gene at the top lookout point, with our new picnic bag we bought that day.
On the lookout point.
We couldn’t find any picnic spots so we sat with our backs to the lookout monument. Several hikers came by to look at the monument as we were there, so we had several good conversations–a great GQ spot!
Pretty breath-taking views!
A golf course wrapped around the beacon, so we decided to fake some golf poses! 🙂
Where are those sons and sons-in-law when you need them?
I just can’t take their place!
Beautiful country! Cheerio!
