On Sunday, June 7, 2015 we had a wonderful conference broadcast from Edinborough, Scotland to the 56 stakes in the Northern Europe area. Elder Holland was there to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the gospel first preached in Scotland. He and the other members of the area presidency spoke, along with members from Sweden and Scotland. It was so inspiring! In his talk, Elder Holland bore such a powerful witness of the Book of Mormon, its truth and role in the last days and its power to protect us from temptation, doubt, and the evils of the world. We truly felt his call as an Apostle of the Lord! Here are some photos from the Church website from his visit here.
On the Wednesday, June 10, Elder Holland spoke to the English Parliament, a historical first for a church leader. [My Mom and sisters, Linda and Dayna and her husband Bob were there in London at the same time, having arrived the day before.] Here are photos of that occasion.
And the next day, Thursday, March 11, Elder Holland came to meet with our mission at Solihull, (a part of Birmingham) where he had lived and served as the Area President in 1990-1993. What a wonderful experience to “sit at his feet”, feel his spirit, and hear his counsel. At the very first, he took the time to personally shake our hands and hear our name and home, and “look into our souls” as he said later.
It was an amazing experience. His teachings on the atonement were amazing. Truly he is an apostle of the Lord, sent at this time!
Here are some of our photos after the meetings and when we ate lunch later on the Solihull grounds. Awesome missionaries!
Then we were off to our flat, then to Chepstow to meet our visiting family! Cheerio!
